July 10, 2010 The Carolina Stallions coming off a 28 to 6 victory of the Fayetteville Ruff Riders at Nash Central High two weeks ago and next up is the Northern Neck Rivermen of the Mason Dixon Football League from Colonial Beach, Virginia. Coming in with a 1-0 record and a recent win 34-6 over the victory Virginia Monarchs, the Rivermen who arrived by land showed the Stallions that they can fly by air and on their first possession scored with a 5 yard touchdown giving the Rivermen a 6-0 head start. The Stallions were slow to get out of the starting blocks and by the end of the half the Rivermen 12 and the Stallions 0. In the second half, the Carolina Stallions showed why they are contenders of the Big North East Football Federation Southwest Division by using a the run and pass game, also with a little help in penalties from the Rivermen, scored on a Calvin Fields 28 yard bomb to Morcea Stanley at the right pylon cutting the score Carolina Stallions 6 and the Northern Neck Rivermen 12. However, the Rivermen preponderated the air game by passing for 321 yards to the Stallions 157 yards and finished the game Carolina Stallions 6 and the Northern Neck Rivermen 32. The Carolina Stallions were led on offense by Morcea Stanley with 6 receptions for 114 yards and 1TD, and on defense with 3 sacks by DE Jermaine Fields. In two weeks the Carolina Stallions will travel to Philadelphia to take on the North West Giants, in their season opener.
